Hello Friends,

Can we select visa office of our country of citizenship for processing of CEC application or is it has to be CPP-O?

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Deepak

Depends upon from where you are applying CEC app? If you are applying from Canada - it has to be CPP -O..

No, this is not true. If you have been authorized reside in Canada for at least a year, you MAY select CPP-O. Or you may select the visa office that serves your country of nationality.

Just read the application instructions -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp

Indicate the name of the Immigration Office which serves:

your country of nationality, or
the country in which you are residing, provided that you have been lawfully admitted to that country for at least one year.
(e.g. CPP-O if you have been admitted to Canada)

i believed he can choose cpp-o since he's currently resides inside of canada or choose his home country if he's living/applying from his country. if he lives in canada and choose his home country, it means that his file might be transfered to his country instead of canada. so it is better for him to choose cpp-o since he lives here.

hey, is it slower to be processed outside of canada than within? Do you know it for sure or just guessing? Thanks

Hello Friends,

Thanks a lot for your inputs. I got the answer for my question from OP 25.

The CEC applications are only finalized at CPP-O irrespective of the visa office we apply.

I have one more question though

In form Schedule 8- Economic class-CEC question no. 9, for the most recent experience,if we are still working in Canada on a workpermit, what should we put the To Date?

Should it be the Work Permit Expiry Date or the day before we apply for CEC?

Please let me know

Thanks,
Deepak

I applaud your going to the OP 25 for guidance, as a general rule, that's a smart thing. But unless you somehow have access to an updated OP 25 that is not yet publically available on the CEC website, what the OP 25 says is that all CEC applications are finalized in Buffalo (not CPP-O). The OP 25 has not been revised since 2011-06-22 (see the date on the bottom of the page), and is seriously outdated.

It used to be true that all CEC applications were finalized at Buffalo. But there were important procedural changes at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012 that came with the Centralized Intake of CEC applications (in effect, they are now processed more like FSW applications, so that the processing of all economic class applications is more consistent).

If you follow the CURRENT instructions, it will tell you how to select a visa office for PROCESSING. (Not merely accepting the application, as it states in the OP 25, before centralized intake was implemented).

This makes it easier for people who plan to return home, or who have a spouse living in a country where the passport cannot be mailed...
