Guys,

One of my friend who is a physician just filed her case in the CEC class.

CIC received all the initial forms in December 27.

How long will it take CIC to provide an answer on the status of the application and the next steps.

The only outstanding thing remaining are the Police Checks, as she needs to get those from US, which takes some time to process.

Cheers!
Colin.

you and your friend can find this information easily on the CIC website: processing timeline is currently 13 months for 80% of applicants.

But sometimes it takes more then 13 months
For me its more then 13 months but the only progress
Is only RCMP finger print .. But my case is under review
Required .if everything goes well it should be done by 13 months

that's why I listed 80% of cases are resolved in 13 months - it can be quicker or longer.

Mates,

I'm aware of the normal processing times via the CIC site. Apologies for not being clear enough :)

What I'm looking for is that; an estimated time line of few of the forum members who filed their CEC application and how long it took them from start to finish.

Cheers!
Colin

check out the trackers for each month: some received it in 9 months and some took longer than 13 months.
2013 saw the PAFSO strike which impacted CIC resources and appeared to slow down a number of applications.

So how soon will she get an initial response from CIC after submitting the application ? And then what will be the next step. Will she receive a case number through which she can track the case etc. ?

Acknowledgement of receipt is first step - usually 1-3 months after application. this will include a file number which she can use to see the status of her application online. be warned that it will be Application Received for quite some time.
Then it's medical request and maybe police certificate request if Canadian check is required - that's about 6-9 month after application.
Then depending on passport she either has to send her passport in to CIC or will go straight to receive confirmation of PR.

It's really worth checking out the CEC information pages http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-after.asp

This is indeed great info as I was not able to locate that.

A side question! her partner is on a spouse visa and his open work permit is expiring (He got this work permit as her common law partner initially). So can he apply for a bridge visa once she receives an AOR. She filed him as her common law partner for the CEC application as well.

Or does he needs to apply for the open work permit extension as the work permit is expiring in June 2014.
