Hi everyone i am new to this website and need some advice. I applied for cec in January and got my RPRF request on 28th October with additional document request for Schedule A update information which i already submitted . My study permit expired on 2 November.
My questions is-
Do i need to apply for new permit while waiting for this immigration decision and can stay in canada without applying for permit or do i need to restore my permit again?
Guys i am freaking out >:( please advice if some one has knowledge.
Thanks

What is your current status in Canada ?

Student , Worker ,Visitor or implied status ?

Regardless of decision on PR , prior/until decision is not made and you don't complete landing formalities - you should have a Legal status in Canada to continue or stay , Its illegal to stay if you don't have any of the above legal status in Canada , I believe.

Check if you are eligible for a PGWP or if your study permit allows any kind of work permit. You should not have let your permit expire, because now you are out of status. If you are still in Canada, leave ASAP and apply for a permit outside Canada. You get a grace period to leave Canada after the permit expires. You can also apply for restoration of status if your permit allows it.

you will not be allowed for bowp as your current wp as alrdy expired.. best bet is to either leave the country right away or apply for restoration of your status.. if approved, u can live in canada as a visitor until your PR is completed.
In any case, do NOT work. if you had a job previously cause of your wp, leave the job immediately and apply for restoration of status.

You are out of status. Having a PR application in process does not authorize you to stay in Canada.

You can apply to restore status within the 3 month grace period, if you are eligible for a work, study, or visitor permit Are you eligible for another study permit? If so, absolutely, yes, you need to restore your status and apply for a new one... If not, your choices are to apply for restoration and change to visitor's status (you cannot work, you cannot study), or leave Canada and wait for a decision on your CEC application - just update CIC with your new address.

Read about restoration here -

As long as you are in your grace period and a positive decision is reached on your permit, your application is fine. But in case your permit does not gets approved, you should leave Canada and wait for your PR application to proceed. No, rejection will not affect your application.
