My husband cannot find his divorce certificate, (was held in china), I thought of writing an apology letter to CIC to inform them that he is still actively looking for it. Is it mandatory to produce it? He also request from China embassy but not sure how long it takes.. anyone have experience?

If your husband has been previously married and got divorced then yes, a divorce certificate is mandatory.

He couldn't find the divorce certificate so even if I send in my application, I will still need to wait for his divorce certificate to be locate???

That is correct.

If you do not include it with the application, the entire application could be returned, as it would be deemed to be incomplete.

Thank you for your clarification. Oh boy, guess he need to dig harder or hopefully the china embassy respond back.

Rather than contacting the Embassy, I would be contacting the region / area of the country where the divorce was processed. Typically there is a process for requesting a duplicate copy.

Agreed with what others have said - he needs to either find it or obtain another.
