Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Mine is a Outland Application to Sponsor my spouse (wife). I live in Toronto. My wife resides in our home country.

When I filed my application to sponsor my spouse last August, I used a Representative. I must say that we filled all of the Forms out ourselves and after mine and my spouse's signature, showed the Representative the Forms for review. He asked for a few changes in the writing in the Forms which I complied with. He was not supportive of me including the communication records between me and my spouse such as skype logs, e-mail logs etc saying that those are of private in nature and shouldn't be included. Nevertheless, I told him that I would add them in the package and he didn't say anything. Then I mailed out the Application to Mississauga myself. In the Application, I put one original of the Form IMM 5476 which my spouse as the Applicant signed and me as the Sponsor signed. The Representative filled out the section B of the Form.

Now, after sending the application I didn't hear from the Representative for 3 months. After reading status of Applicants in this Forum who got stage one approval similar to my time line, I went to his office and asked him if he had received anything from Mississauga Office and he told me that he did and that the letter stated that I was approved as a sponsor. However, he couldn't show me the letter as it was misplaced somewhere. That was in October. I haven't since then received any call from him regarding finding that letter.

In the mean time, I have been checking the status of my Application using the payment receipt number (I paid full $1,040 online), my spouses last name, birth date etc. The ECAS shows that my spouse's Application was received in August and that Medical Result was also received.

Now, I have been thinking lately to contact Singapore Visa Centre to change our contact information such as our mailing address and e-mail address so that any subsequent contact comes to one of us instead of it going to the Representative.

However, since I was using the Representative, I thought that when filling out the Forms, I should include his information as the contact information for both mailing address and e-mail address in the appropriate places. Thus, in the Form IMM 1344, Page 2, Contact Information Section: I put the Representative's Address in Item 1, My Address in Item 2, My Telephone # in Item 3, the Representative's Fax # in Item 5, the Representative's e-mail address in Item # 6 (which I know now was a mistake). Similarly, in the Form IMM 0008, Page 2, Contact Information Section: My spouse put the Representative's address in Item 1, her current address in Item 2, her Telephone # in Item 3, the Representative's Fax # in Item 5 and the Representative's e-mail address in Item 6 (consistent with my answer for the same field as in Form IMM 1344).

Obviously, looking back, I realize that it was ok to have done the whole thing myself as our's is a straight forward application. It's a first marriage for both of us, we have enough pictures from the ceremonies, we have letters from our relative and friend etc., we have face book updates showing status change/ profile pictures updates etc.

Now, question is how do I contact Singapore Visa Office to inform them of the cancellation of the Representative since I don't have a File number. At this point, I am waiting for our Application to go into 'In process'. Do we need to notify the Representative at all? (a quick note here: I used him because he is my friend's relative. But I have found him professionally indifferent)

Also, do we also need to provide updated Form IMM 1344 & Form IMM 0008 with the corrected contact address and e-mail address respectively? The originals were dated as of August 2012. Do we date them differently now if they have to be included too?

At the same time, should I change the address online (in ECAS it shows our Representative's address. But there is a link below to change the address.)

Most importantly, if we find a way to send the cancellation letter (along with updated IMM 1344 & IMM 0008 if needed) to SVO, will it in anyway delay the processing of our Application?

Really appreciate any input from the Senior Members here as well as from Members who have cancelled OR updated their Representative.

No you don't. You have two options, and for either one you just complete, sign and submit a new IMM5476. One is to simply select the box that says "I am cancelling the appointment of a representative." The other, is to appoint a new representative . . . such as "you" the sponsor. We did that just in case the sponsor (in our case in Canada) needed to contact CIC on the applicants' behalf. If you appoint a new rep, the previous one is automatically cancelled since you can only have "one". For this option, select the box "I am appointing a representative." The hard part I would imagine is getting this signed and delivered, as they are only interested in "real" paper (no email, scanned images, or any of that).

Thanks for the reply.

My main problem is that I don't have a File Number because remember that the Representative failed to provide the Letter that came from Mississauga. That letter must had a File Number which we could have used now to send the cancellation letter to Singapore Visa Office.

If you're in Canada, call your MP's office for assistance. Or perhaps try sending a case specific inquiry.

Thanks inlimbo. But I don't have a case number. And calling MP's office regarding issue doesn't sound appropriate.

Constituency offices have special contacts that communicate with them, very quickly. I think your situation is perfect for using their assistance. My MPs office gas been fantastic in helping me, as my situation is pretty extreme. I strongly suggest you ask for assistance. They should be glad to help.
