Cancel application & breaking up

Hello,

I'm in a really tough situation right now and have no idea what to do. I was in a relationship with a Canadian since I was 18 years old, I came to Canada to be with him and we decided we wanted to be together long-term and I applied for 2 visitor visas to stay longer with him and have him sponsor me. After my second application I made mistakes on the form and had to reapply for temporary residence and the visiting visa.

We got married in May, but things just didn't work in the end and we decided to break up. I'm still in Canada but plan to leave this month, I waited around 8 months for the answer from cic but received nothing back as of yet, so I'm going to call them and see what the status of my application is. We planned to have him sponsor me as a spousal but we don't want that anymore. My question is when I call CIC can I request that my applications for temporary residency visiting extension are cancelled and may I apply for a legal separation? I've been staying with my friend since we broke up.

I want to come back to Canada in 2 years as a student.

You don't need to cancel visitor status, it simply runs out when it expires. If you intend to apply for a study permit later, just make sure you don't overstay your visitor status now or it may complicate things to come back later.

You do need to cancel the PR application. Typically it's the sponsor that cancels the app. Instructions for that is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=732&top=14

IRCC has nothing to do with your divorce. For that, you'll need to contact a family law/divorce lawyer.

We havent even started the sponsorship for pr yet, we were waiting to hear back if I could extended my visit visa to have enough time to apply for the sponsorship, and also have my temporary resident status reinstated. I just haven't heard back for so long I want to call to see whats going on?

Would I need to tell them I'm married and wish to cancel the applications though or will they both be automatically cancelled when I leave Canada? Since I sent in the papers that proved we were married, so they're aware.

So did you apply for an extension of visitor status, or did you go out of status so applied for restoration of status?

Either way, everything is automatically cancelled as soon as you leave Canada so there is nothing to tell IRCC.

I applied for both another extension of my visiting status and also for the restoration of status, I made mistakes on the first form for extension so they sent it back and gave me 90 days to apply again, so I did. I payed 2 separate fees.

Okay, so I don't need to mention I'm married or even ask that they be canceled? Because my reason to stay was to apply for the PR with my spouse but now it's not going ahead, wouldn't they need to know? I'm sorry I don't know much about this at all and I'm very worried

You don't need to do anything. You can just leave Canada.

I'll be leaving this month, but I haven't heard back from CIC that's why I'll be calling, as I'm scared to overstay.. I've read people getting orders to leave the country? I've never gotten one but do you know what causes people to get them? How does CIC know you've over stayed anyway?
