Hi All,

I've just discovered this forum so was hoping any kind soul could steer me in the right direction.

1. What does PPR1 and PPR2 stand for?

2. I am in Canada, husband is in Pakistan. We are currently putting together our spousal sponsorship package to submit in Canada to CPC-M. Has anybody submitted the spousal sponsorship package and then afterwards applied for a visitor visa for their spouse? If so, what is your status on the visitor visa? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Once we get going in our process, I will be happy to provide step by step details of our process as well.

3. Have any sponsors in Canada had to quit or switch jobs after being approved as sponsors and if so did you have to notify CIC of the change? Were there any difficulties in your application being processed due to this?

Hi

1. PPR stands for Passport Request. Not sure what the 1 and 2 is about, as the VO will only request that the passport be mailed once.

2. Unfortunately, there is little chance of a TRV being granted to your husband. To get a TRV, a person must show stronger ties to their country than to Canada. CIC nearly always considers the Canadian spouse to be the strongest tie and so denies the TRV. He can apply but the chances are low.

3. It's fine to switch your job, you don't have to notify CIC.

Hi and thank you so much for replying so quickly.

Just a quick one here - in regards to your response to point 2 - what if my husband has a consulting business of his own as well as regular full-time employment in Pakistan (he is a software engineer)? He would ideally be granted a leave of absence from his full-time job for a short period of time in order to visit me and would look into providing a supporting letter from his employer to help the application process. Do you have any advice regarding this scenario?

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your help.

He can certainly try for a TRV but to be perfectly honest, there isn't much chance. Even applicants with the strongest apps are usually refused because CIC nearly always considers the spouse in Canada to be the strongest tie.

Ok thanks so much for the info - very helpful!! Thank you

Though his chances of being able to visit you are low, as a Canadian citizen, you aren't required to be in Canada while the PR app processes, so you can go see him as much as you want during the application.

;D That's really encouraging to hear - thank you, I really appreciate it!!!!!!!

if he can show good balance and good settlement in Pak, TRV can be approved.
No harm in trying though (other than fees wasted)
