Hello Everyone,

I am a Canadian in the process of filling the sponsorship application for my wife. I was told to get her Educational Equivalency certificate from WES. I went of the Website and was faced with 2 types of applications:
1) WES Standard Application
2) ECA Application for IRCC
''For higher or continuing education, licensure, and employment, select the WES Standard Application.
For immigration purposes, select the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) Application for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).''

I am not sure which one does wife sponsorship goes under? I do not think it is the latter (for immigration purpose) but I want some input from this thread if you be so kind.
I have read from different threads a single mistake like this could be costly.

thank you,
Sam

Does the Principal Applicant (i.e., your wife) really need ECA for spousal sponsorship.......is ECA required for spousal sponsorship.......don't see that in the checklist and guide.

If you need to get an ECA for your foreign degree, diploma or certificate.....refer......If you need to have your education assessed

You don't need educational equivalency certificates for Spousal Sponsorship.

Other than the official CIC sources and help files, this may also help (angled at British PA's):

Follow the guide and checklist, not "what people tell you".

Thank you all,

You are all correct, it is not a requirement on the checklist, but a while back looking at some CIC tips, it said do not only stick to the checklist, the more 'relevant' information that we can add will help the application. Therefore, as for the Educational equivalency certificate, it serves adding it to the application and a step which we will eventually have to make later.
So from what i understand from your comments i should go with the 'WES Standard Application' then.

thank you again.

It is not relevant. They will not even look at it.

Follow the checklist. IRCC limited what people could send because they were tired of receiving apps in a box and having to shred useless information.
