Hi everyone,

My wife and I are in the beginning of filling out our paperwork. I know that the application to sponsor is the first part of the application. Can we fill out the application to sponsor, get approved and then turn the remainder in? We're both pretty busy and it's been hard to find time, especially being apart to put this information together.

Also, which fees are we supposed to pay, is it a total of 550$, 75$ for sponsorship application, 475$ for the primary applicant.
Do I also need to pay for the PR card at this time? I'm just a bit confused on what exactly I'm supposed to pay.

Thanks in advanced.

No - you must complete and submit the full application (both sponsor and applicant sections). Otherwise it will be returned as incomplete.

You should pay all of the fees up front if you can to avoid delays. If money is tight, you can pay the $475 later.

Just to add, the PR card fee is for renewals only. You don't pay that one.

To clarify the fees:

Sponsorship application (per application) $75
Principal applicant $475
Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) $490

Total: $1040

You can choose to pay only the first 2, $550, when submitting the application and then pay the $490 RPRF when CIC requests it but this can cause your app to be delayed. It is recommended that you pay all of the fees upfront.
