Canadian police certificates required under new system?

I would be grateful if any CEC applicants who have received an ITA could answer the following: is a Canadian police cert required if you are currently residing in Canada? It was not required under the old CEC system, you just had to provide police certs for the countries you previously resided in. Has this changed?

Not required. The description says "You will be advised if you are required to obtain a police certificate for Canada. "
So initially, for sure it is not required.

Thank you. And about PCC from home country: For how much time duration it is valid?

As I did it in 2014 for CEC but now I will be getting my file back as global cap got reach in OCT 2014 and I applied in DEC 2014.

Is the 3 month period still valid or we an order pcc for India now from BLS even if we do not have an ITA
