I am a permanent resident of Canada and I had a baby in Indonesia. Is it possible to apply for a Canadian passport for him?

If your child is not a Canadian citizen, you can not apply for a Canadian passport for him.

You say you are a PR so your child did not get citizenship through you. You say your child was born in Indonesia, not in Canada so he is not a born Canadian. You however did not say what is the nationality of the other parent. If the other parent is a Canadian citizen, either born or naturalized, you can apply for a citizenship card for the child and a temporary passport.

If the other parent is not a Canadian citizen, what you would have to do is sponsor your child for PR. As a PR you have to be in Canada in order to sponsor your child. Your child will most likely not be granted a TRV (visit visa) because the intention is not for the child to stay in Canada temporarily. It is however possible that you would be granted a TRP (ministers permit) for your child in order to take him to Canada with you so you can sponsor him.
