Hi friends!

I came from Pakistan to Canada as an international student in 2008. Finished coursework Dec 2012 and had my convocation June 2013. I was issued an Open Work permit from march 2013 to March 2016. I did some lower tier jobs and was looking for NOC A and B roles, they kept asking for experience. Realistically, I had just graduated, as resourceful as I am I did not have 10 years experience behind me. I have volunteered with two very powerful organisations here in Canada, AKDN and United Nations Canada. My work permit has expired now. My lawyer has put me on implied status, which was renewed this week until next year. I am looking for an LMIA sponsor. I am applying for jobs and giving interviews. Do you have any tips, advises or resources for me to consider.

Thank you in advance!

Cannot help on LMIA but maybe others can give some tips if you shared what subject you graduated in and what career you are trying to pursue. Quoting volunteering doesnt really say what your role was and whilst not holding out much hope re LMIA recommendations at least forum members would have something to go on.

1. Don't understand what you mean by your lawyer put you on implied status?
2. Your PGWP expired in March/16, so if you applied for an extension, (even though it couldn't be extended) it should have been refused by now and your Implied status ended. I hope you are no longer working.
3. Unless you received an extension as a visitor, or applied for restoration, you are out of status.

Your lawyer has no power to put you on implied status.

Implied status cannot be "renewed until next year".

Make sure you are staying legally, else go home and try from there.

Also try posting this in the EE section.. more people with better knowledge/experience with getting LMIA.
