Hi all,

I have been getting so much conflicting information, I am really hoping you all can help me out. My fiance lives in New Brunswick, I am in the USA (New Jersey).

I was under the impression we needed to go the K-1 Visa route to marry and for him to come here. However, I recently learned that this isn't entirely necessary, as long as he isn't applying for permanent residency right away (which I suppose means he is going to go back to Canada?)

So the question really is - what do I do!? Can he come here for a visit, we get married, and he goes back to Canada, then I file the I-130? If someone could give me a brief overview of what to do, I would be so incredibly grateful. I have spent countless hours trying to understand the entire K-1 visa process, and I feel like it might have all been for nothing.

Thank you!!!

You should post your questions to a US immigration forum like this one that has a dedicated section for K-1 questions: http://forums.immigration.com/
