Hey there guys !

here is a question that ive been trying to figure out... hope i can get some advice :)

Im canadian married to a pakistani ... ive been living/ working outside canada since 2009 we had our first child in 2011 and now looking for have our second in 2015. i have already applied and received the PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP letter for my 1st child the question is now that ill be going back to canada soon after the birth of my second child .. how, who or where can i apply for the PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP for the 2nd child.

1.) Can i apply from within canada ? even though my wife n kids are in pakistan ? if so what would be required ?

2.) Can my wife apply from pakistan with me in canada .. if so what would be required ?

last time it took roughly 8 months and i got back my original docs in 3 months as i wrote a letter stating that we would be going on a trip...

need some help everyone ...

If the second child is going to be born in Canada, he/she would get a Canadian birth certificate. Proof of citizenship is for those born outside Canada to Canadian parent(s).

You can do it from Canada too, by sending your application to the Case Processing Centre: Sydney, Nova Scotia (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/sydney.asp)

Here is a guide that can help you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0001ETOC.asp
You can find the forms here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/certif.asp

EDIT: Both parents can apply for the child's citizenship certificate.

Where did you get that only Canadian parent can apply for canadian citizenship certificates for their children? A non-Canadian parent can apply for Canadian citizenship certificate for his/her child so long as they can provide proof that the other child's parent is Canadian born or naturalized Canadian at time of birth.

I stand corrected then.
