hello
Me and my wife came last year to Ontario with a 6 month work permit.
Last April I got approved for a 8 month work permit for another employer.
Now I would like to apply to pr under the cec program, but I think I must have 1500 hours to qualified, right?
My new employer wants to extend my work permit that ends in December, but because I work as a cement finisher and my boss doesn't have concrete work in winter (but he has a few trucks and machines to clean snow) , I don't think I'm going to be approved.
But my principal concern is that my wife is pregnant now, and in December when the work permit expires she's going to be 6 and half months pregnant, does she going to have medical coverage?
what's the best option for us?
Thank you

Nope she wont be covered under OHIP. But she can use the assistance of midwives and it is free and no consultation fees. u can Google it and give them a call to schedule an appointment immediately. while she is with midwives, she can still pay for lab fees and blood works which doesn't cost much. she also has the option of delivering her baby in a hospital or at home. if she choose to deliver in hospital, she still need to pay for obstetrician fees and other fees which is roughly up to $2000 for normal delivery and more for C. section. .If she choose to deliver at home, the midwives will do that free of charge. And yes u need 1500hrs to qualify for CEC, and make sure u have the needed skill work experience b4 applying. hope this helps.

Depends where you live. If you're in Toronto, you're looking at more like $7K+. (I would budget $10K to be safe.)

u only pay that much when u deliver thru c.section. I am talking based on experience but it's also good to budget high
