Hello, I'm new to this forum. My name is Alex and I live in Alberta. I'm an international 2nd year student who works as a cook at a restaurant on campus part time. Ive been working there for the past two years (no work permit required). I was wondering if i could apply through the canadian experience class to get my PR since the position of a cook is listed on NOC. I took the assessment on CIC and I'm just one point off (score of 66). I might have to wait another year to be over 67, the required score. I just wanted to make sure I could apply this way.

thank you in advance.

just wondering how u will apply without work permit. Have u been paying taxes and getting a t4 slips/ NOAs?? if not, ur not eligible. Hope others will assist u. All the best

Alex...CEC eligibility criteria is not based on point system.

Yes I have been paying taxes. Also, on the application package on the Document Check List. Page 3 section 10

it says on bold letters "applicants who are authorize to work without a work permit are eligible to apply under the canadian experience class"
As long as they acquired that job on legal grounds.

there's a link on CIC that assess your eligibility. I would post it but it wont let me post links. I dont know if it's something official or just to see where you at kinda thing

Point System is for FSW category..not for CEC. It clearly says "Self-assessment test – Skilled workers and professionals".

oh shit lol, I guess i got confused. thank you.

anyway, what are my chances?

Unless you've T4 from your employer and NOA from CRA, you'll not be able to apply under CEC. Please check eligibility criteria for CEC on CIC site.

Nevermind, CIC doesnt count your work experience if you work on campus while being a full time student or with a OCWP :'(
