Hi all,

When checking for my CRS score, I noticed the following:

Have you earned a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate?
Note: to answer yes:
  • ...
  • you must not have studied under an award that required you to return to your home country after graduation to apply your skills and knowledge
  • ...
Yes/No

I have graduated from a university in Canada with a Bachelor degree. My study was sponsored by an employer in my home country. My contract stipulated that I should work for this employer for a certain number of years after graduation. However, during the course of my study, my interest changed. Therefore, after graduation, I repaid the tuition fees and other expenses back to this employer as outlined in my contract.

My question is, can I answer Yes to this question to obtain the 30 CRS points?

My justifications are:
1) My contract stated that I should work for this employer. It is never stated that I should work in my home country. Although the headquarter of the employer is in my home country, there are many branches around the world.
2) I have repaid the tuition fees and expenses back to this employer. Therefore, I no longer have any obligation under the contract.

Have a lovely day! :)
