I know I read somewhere on this forum someone was in a similar situation. My husband born Canadian was denied entry into USA bc they thought he wanted to live here. He obviously doesn't he sponsored me to Canada not the other way around. Basically just wondering were any other canadiens denied entry in to the us? Do u really need everything on the list?? We just want to go for a baby shower my family is throwing me. My wedding was in Canada bc the CBP in US! I didnt want to risk planning a wedding, n the groom not show up bc he's denied entry.... Any advice will help (he came to USA a hundred times but in 2009 they stopped him bc he stayed for 1 month with me)

I am not Canadian, and never been denied entry to the US, but I am from a country that requires visas to enter the US (and just about everywhere else on earth outside of the Caribbean :P) but I have successfully applied for two different types of US visas. So my advice would be, since your husband has that "black mark" on his book, so to speak, have him act like he's from a non-visa-exempt country and be prepared to show all his ties to Canada:
  • job letter saying how much time off he has
  • proof of ownership of major assets (car, home)
  • proof of sufficient funds to cover expenses for the time you will be in the US

etc, etc. You get the idea. Chances are, he may not be asked to show them, but you don't want to be unprepared if he is. Good luck, and congrats on the family addition!

Canadians can be denied entry to the US for the same reasons that Americans can be denied entry to Canada: if they don't believe the foreign national intends to stay only temporarily, they can refuse to allow entry. Normally proof of sufficient ties to home is enough to change their minds: he should carry proof of his job, proof of lease/rent/mortgage on a property, etc., and proof of your permanent status in Canada should help, too. It will also be helpful if he can demonstrate why he's going to visit the US - like an invitation to your baby shower, etc., and where you will be staying (like if you've booked a hotel). Also, return trip itinerary is important - sometimes it's harder to do this if you're driving and can't prove (with a return airfare) when you're coming back. Just think of things that will demonstrate his intention to return to Canada and that should be fine. Also - even your proof of employment and a life in Canada with him (as a US citizen) might help to show that you guys have made a life here and won't be staying in the States.

We gathered as much info n will include my job as well... I hope they don't ask him to get a visa! I wish I couldgo to the border a week before n show everything, but dont want that to raise a red flag either ??? These immigration worries never finish lol
