We are living abroad, planning for a child soon, let's say we want to visit Canada with our child at 6 months old, does Canada need any special documentation to visit, or will my Canadian citizenship pass to him? What about at 3 years old?

Thanks

if the Canadian parent became a citizen by birth or naturalization....the newborn abroad will be a citizen.....the Canadian parent should apply for proof of citizenship certificate and Canadian travel passport for the newborn.

Ok thanks, I did more research according to your response. So to confirm, after the baby is born, I apply proof of citizenship certificate, then apply for passport, good to hear.

You can apply the certificate and limited validity passport at the same time.
