My common-law partner is a Canadian citizen. Because of this, do I say he is “accompanying” me to Canada in my Express Entry profile? The wording is odd and I want to say no, but I’ve been here for years and so I am technically not “moving” here as a lot of the language implies, so not sure if this is a similar case.

Also, if the answer is indeed no, does this exclude me from claiming any points for his work experience, as well as for his sister being a citizen residing in Canada?

Since he is already Canadian, he can't be included in your application. You also cannot benefit from him in any way points-wise. So you are right in understanding that you are excluded from claiming points for his work experience and his sister. You would only be able to claim points for all of this if he was applying for PR along with you.

I thought so, but couldn't find confirmation anywhere. Was hoping that I could at least get some points to make up for the reduced ones I get from having a common-law partner at all, haha. Thank you for the clarification!

Your partner needs no Canadian PR. That’s “non-accompanying”.
