Hi everyone ...

I am a dual citizen - Canadian/US currently living in the US.

I was born to Canadian parents in the US and have lived in the US all my life, but the rest of my family - all Canadians - live in Canada.

I have a Canadian Citizenship Certificate that I got in 2006, but I do not have a Canadian passport. I do have an American passport. I am married to an American citizen.

My question is, what would be the proper process to follow if my wife and I want to relocate to Canada (probably BC, possibly ON)?

Both of us plan to work there. My wife has her own business which is moveable, but I have no employment options, at this point.

I see a lot of posts for folks who are Canadian and are returning to Canada, but not folks like me. And the CA government website doesn't seem to help.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

Straightforward process, you sponsor your wife for Permanent Residency status. You will need to demonstrate intent to move to Canada as part of this (eg emails with realtors, potential employees, banks, etc).

Hi

Your situation isn't any different from a Canadian returning to Canada. As said above, you will need to sponsor your wife for PR.

Thanks for your help with this. That certainly is somewhat of a relief and much easier than I was anticipating.
