Hello.
I'm a retired 60 year old. I was born in Canada and left at 11 to live in
Arizona. I became a naturalized american citizen in 1991. Haven't visited Canada since the 70s. I'm under the impression that Canada considers me to be a dual citizen. I never did anything to revoke my citizenship unless becoming an american did that.
I don't have a visa or passport, only an Arizona drivers licence. My only proof of Canadian citizenship, other than a bunch of Canadian relatives, is my american "Certificate of Naturalization" stating that my country of former nationality is Canada and my DD 214 (military document) from the 1970s saying I was born in Windsor. I don't have a birth certificate.
Does anyone know if the Certificate of Naturalization is enough proof that I'm a Candian too? I just noticed that I'm the same weight now as I was then.
I have a decent pension and will be collecting early american social security in one year so i'll have a pretty good retirement income. i'm reasonably healthy for my age and I currently get my medical care through the Veterans Administration but I'm eligible for the plans available from my former employer too. I only mention this because I had a Canadian on line friend say that I was just coming back to take advantage of the health care. I was thinking more along the lines of coming back home from a very long trip.
I've done some googling but haven't had any luck on finding out what i actually need to prove citizenship.
I'd appreciate any information or directions to some reading.
Have a good day.
