Hi, i visited canada in february 2018 as a dependent of my spouse on a W-1 visa category. We were married for 3 years before that, but when i lived with him, things didn't work out between my husband and me and i returned to india in april 2018. I got divorced from my husband after returning to india, now my visa is still valid till july 2019 but i don't have my canada work permit as because my in-laws took it and destroyed after the divorce.
My question is, can i still enter canada on my existing visa?. And as i know, when i enter canada, i will have to show my work permit at the immigration counter, so what should i do now to re-enter canada?
can i, maybe enter as only a visitor and not a worker?

What are your longterm plans? Your work permit ends soon. What will you do when it ends?

You can apply for VOS with a Canadian address and keep a copy of application with you when you fly in to Canada. You should be able to travel and enter Canada if you have a valid TRV. Not sure if CBSA can print you a work permit on arrival but if you are sure you have status in Canada, it shouldn't be a problem.
Good luck.
i have a cousin in canada, can i apply for VOS at her address?

Only if an employer is willing to get an LMIA and then you get approved for a closed work permit.

so, i can do that after the old work permit expires, right?

Only if an employer agrees to do it and to spend the money and if your work permit gets approved. Whole process takes around 6 months and there are no guarantees of approval. Given that you haven't been in Canada working it seems unlikely that you'd be able to find an employer willing to do that. Most employers won't spend the money and wait for a worker for 6 months.

okay, but once i enter canada i can start looking for an employer?

Most employers don't want to pay $1000 and wait for an employee who can't work an may not get an approved work permit. Your chances are pretty low unless you have rare skills.

Yes you can. You will have trouble extending it though as mentioned by others.
It probably is a better idea to start exploring economic streams to get PR.
thanks. so, i can enter canada after applying for VOS, but would the immigration officer at the airport grant me entry?
