let me thank all the members here providing their inputs.Like other folks i do have some questions on Canadian PR
I was recently approved for the PR However I am in US waiting on my GC and even i am not user how long it will take so my question regarding PR is

1) how may days you should be in Canada to Keep your PR active ? should it be at stretch or you can visit on and off ?
2) What is the requirement for renewing the Canadian PR?
3) I read that for citizenship you need to be in canada at least 365 days *3 yrs within those 5 years of PR? is this still true?
4) any other restrictions on PR?

any other key inputs will also be helpful..

thanks again for all your help

1. To maintain your PR you must reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period (certain exceptions)
2. See: 1
3. No, presently if is 3 years residency in the 4 years prior to the date of application for citizenship, this will change when Bill C-24 passes to 4 years residency in the previous 6 and 183 days residency within each of those 4 years.

Thanks for the update..

2 yrs can be on and off? within those 5 years? or it should be at a stretch?

thanks

The 2 years to keep your PR may be accumulated, 730 days in Canada or no more than 1094 days outside Canada. You have to meet these requirements for your first 5 years as a PR and for any rolling 5 year period after that. That means after you are a PR for more than 5 years, you must always meet the RO when looking back at the past 5 years.
