Hi all

I sent our apps from Greece on Feb 7th 2013 via registered mail. According to Greek postal service tracking info my parcel left the country on the following day 8th Feb.
Since then I get no news as to the fate of my parcel. I called from overseas today and spoke to a Canada Post service agent and he told me that he cannot see the parcel on the system and told me that there could be a delay due to bad weather.
Has anyone here experienced something like this before?
Its like a nightmare coming true! 12 days now and our apps are probably waiting in some basket inside a container somewhere!! :(

bad weather ? We had a bad snowstorm here last week, but certainly nothing we cant deal with. I would follow up again tomorrow. Do you have copies of what you sent ? 8)

Sorry to hear that! my application took 10 days last year in April, from Europe... so 12 days is not out of the ordinary.
Did you check CP website? with the registered number that you have from Greece, normally you can track it on CP website as well, once it has entered Canada - the country of origin can only do the tracking until it reaches Canada, but not after.
Hope they deliver it today!

Thanks gsize I did hear about the major snow storm you guys had over there. It actually happened one day after I had sent my apps. Talking about luck!!!!

Sweden hi
Yes I already did that (between us I keep on checking every half hour ::) :-[ ) I am climbing up the wall for this. If I took a row boat I would have been there by now hehehe

Thanks again

It's Canada Post training you before your application gets to CIC :-) because once it's in CIC hands you might not hear anything for a while! (although, looking at the february spreadsheet, it looks promising! already one approval, and a few AORs coming up... )
But - I know the feeling! Was checking Canada Post website every day ( but it's not always updated - mine was updated 2 days after the package actually reached Mississauga...), then CIC website for stage 1, then ecas for stage 2!
Good luck!

I usually send all my mail by some fast provider-DHL for example,UPS,FED-ex..consider that for future for no delays, tracking number..its not that expensive and in a long run 100$ you spend may save you lots of headache

We have a January applicant who never got confirm their app was recieved.

I lost my own tracking info and was unable to check mine.

We both got AOR in due time. Try not worry too much. It'll drive you insane.

Hi Abe1004

I understand this b that the package may arrive earlier yes I do! But at these times with costs running from every direction one has to think about them too.
DHL and UPS from my country had asked 100 euros for the delivery to Mississauga. I paid 20 euros through registered mail. Now you would say "Shut up and swim" so this is what I am doing. Of course I know that eventually any moment now my parcel will arrive but I am still worried.
Thank you for the thought!

Cheers

Hi my dear amikety

Yes you are right and believe me this is what I am doing " Going bonkers" It is a good training as Sweden said but then I will relax as soon as I know that our apps are in the hands of CIC

Take care

For such important document DHL, UPS and Fedex are the best choice. I think the standard shippping is 10 business days for EMS serives.
those couriers can deliver in 2 days.
I once sent a package from China to Canada it took 2 days, super fast.

Hi Camelboy

There are many wrong things here in Greece especially with the austerity and the crisis but Hellenic Post Office is one organization that has proven it efficiency through out the history of its existence and I learned to trust it!
My family has been an immigrant family and for the past 5 decades we had sent hundredths of parcels to the US, Canada, Australia and we received same. We never lost anything so far and have never heard any complains from anyone!

Of course I believe the same for Canada Post as well ( I worked for it in the summer of 85 :) ) So deep inside me I want to believe that my parcel will show up eventually)

Cheers to all
