Thank you for sharing this important piece of news.

I hope they transfer all buffalo applicant files to appropriate consulates/vo's within USA.(I suppose based on our addresses) ???

My application has not been transfered!!!
Mine application was also not transferred but buffalo has started transferring file since October 2011.

Thanks for the info. I hope that it doesn't cause any further delay in application times (they are long enough to begin with) but I would imagine it would cause some delay, even if a few months.

They must do it to save the tax payers money.

Its not only CHC Buffalo. Foreign Affairs recently announced it was closing five smaller trade offices in the U.S. — Phoenix, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Anchorage, and Princeton — as part of its budget-cutting efforts to trim $170 million in annual spending.

Applicants now have to send their files to various offices in Canada and if there is an interview in necessity, officials say, foreigners wanting to alter their visas will be able to apply and pay the necessary fees online, and if an interview with Canadian officials is necessary, they will be conducted at immigration offices in Canada. CHC NY will now deal with the pending applications in CHC Buffalo.

The concerning thing is are they gonna lay off Buffalo Visa officers?

I think Buffalo knew it before that is why buffalo was transferring files to other visa offices in US.
Thanks

First sane post today!!!!
I was thinking the same thing.
People who weren't transfered are already but were not told or will be very soon.
Buffalo knew about this for a looong time.
same as cancelling old applications. they know about these things 18 months in advance at least IMHO.

Re: Canada closing buffalo consulate!! How will it affect immigration applicatio

When do you think is Buffalo going to be shutdown? Anytime soon and will it still be issuing PPR?

it doesn't matter at all.
As of a few weeks ago at least all they were doing is forward applications to other offices.

Processing time is already slow, it will be slower with less employees and less offices, no doubt.
