As of September 4, 2013, you may need to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) and pay a biometric fee of $85 CAD when applying for a visitor visa, study permit, or work permit.
If you submit your application in person at a visa application center (VAC) that offers biometric services before the date the requirement takes effect for your country, you will not have to pay the biometric fee and you can get VAC application services at no cost.
