Can you work as a Canadian PR in Canada for a US employer who doesn't has a presence in Canada?

My US work visa expires in Aug 2019 and I will hopefully have a Canadian PR by then. I'm looking to see if I can continue to work legally for my current US employer in Canada as a permanent resident; given the fact that my US employer doesn't has a presence in Canada. If so, what do I need to tell my US employer to have this processed in the right way and do I need to pay taxes both in the US and Canada?

Unless you are driving to your workplace in the US daily, you'll need to set up your own consulting company in Canada and your US employer can hire you that way.
