Can you request AOR from the VO? As you know AOR's are sent randomly however those who received it says the expected processing times.

I tried...it did not work...got a form letter email back saying we are within our timelines according to CIC and don't bother us until that time has passed......the timeline for my VO is 10 months... >:(.......but it does not hurt to try and it does make one feel better to be a little proactive :)

You can request whatever you like, whether they will respond or give it to you or not is an entirely different matter. Some VO's do give AOR and some VO's do not give AOR and generally if they don't give AOR you will not get any notification until your file goes "in process" or they request additional documents/ updated medicals or PCC's.

The problem is inconsistency. They either should send to all or not

Totally agree with you the lack of communication along the whole process is abysmal to say the least. It is like somebody is playing with your life and you are not allowed to know anything about it until they have their final decision. An AOR should be mandatory for all applicants as should a monthly update on your file along the way but hey ho this is CIC we are talking about.

The whole process should not take that long to begin with keeping in mind there is no fiance visa or any other options.
It is not only CIC but the whole government.

If you know that your file has been transferred to your VO, you could send them a CSE requesting confirmation that your file has been received. This MAY trigger an AOR or email response or both. Or you may not get anything ever. It all depends on the VO. But, it is worth a try, at least your attempt will be documented.
