Required Help and Important Information---Please assist

Quest 1:

I am a student of SMU and I failed in my masters hence I am looking for another college in Toronto for May 2016, can it be possible for me to stay in Canada with the student permit I have now... will there be any issues if If I stay and join college in Toronto in May 2016. Its a gap of 6 months.. Please assist.

Question 2:

I have also got an another option to join a college in Jan 2016 which is a 1 year term and I will get only 1 year work permit as per the rule, however I would like to know if my wife is studying still since she is getting an admission in May 2016 for a 2 year course, can I apply for an open work permit or extend my work permit while she is studying? Please assist.

(Logically May 2016-May 2018 is her course completion)
