i called my partner lawyer to ask him to request for me a CAIPS so we can no where our applicaion stands, he replied that he never heard or knew about CAIPS. And started wondering what is that? so i told him to go and google it so he can find out.
thank God for this forum i have asked for it on our own without the lawyer help.

Oh dear!! :o

Let's just hope that means that he's been very successful with his other cases and has never had to use CAIPS! How long has your case been in process?

they started processing my case in the berlin embassy for 15 months now. They said that they are waiting for security and background checks.

Wow, that is a very long time to wait. Sorry to hear that. I hope that you find some helpful information in your CAIPS notes.

Your _laywer_ has never heard of CAIPS?

CAIPS is the very system the foreign visa posts use to enter information. Your lawyer does not even know the name of it, much less how to order notes from it...

I suppose you can order them yourself. I find it shameful that you would have to educate your lawyer on very basic information that you can even read about on free Internet forums.

it's hard to believe that your lawyer could be so incompetent. if he doesn't know so simple things how he can follow the process correctly?

If your case is taking a long time and you want to know why, it's up to you to decide if it's worth paying for CAIPS.

$40? It's $5, free if you are in Canada.

Is it worth it, paying C$40 for CAIPS?
Does it really take 5-6 weeks for the result?

my partner already paid the $5 fee and posted the CAIPS application with the enclosed check almost 2 weeks now.

Hi annemyrtle,

Here is the info:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

Good luck!

You probably found a non-official website from a company that charges lots of money to do what you can do for yourself in a few minutes. It's a racket, but makes good money for those involved.

Except if you are not resident in Canada and have no friend or relatives in Canada, it is the only way.
