Friends,
I am new to this forum. We received a medical request dated May 9th after a wait of almost 2+ years, my husband is the primary applicant. However my husband's company processed his H1 as well and he might need to travel to the US in next 3-4 weeks. Me and my kids would be joining him in first week of September as my daughter has a planned surgery in August. My husband is of the opinion to go ahead with the medicals and include a request stating that we will submit our passports when they are really ready for processing as we have our travels to do.

Can the passports be submitted later? How long is the average wait time currently after medicals at the New Delhi Visa office? My husband's NOC is 0213 and we did a full submission of our docs in Aug 2010. We are not in a position to submit the passports before September first week. Will that be a problem? I would appreciate your inputs from this valuable forum.

Regards
Janet

it takes aprox 45 to 60 days for visa processing after all papers as mentioned in the covering letter have been submitted

I think fair enough case-NDVO sends MR + PPR at same time (NDVO usually completes b/g chk before Med). Only thing, stamping has to be done in NDVO only and cannot be transfered to any US VISA Office. Considering yours is new H1, so it won't start until Oct, you may be lucky to get your COPR and visa before that.

However once in US, you have to figure how to get passports to NDVO if it goes that late.

Thanks for your reply. My husband's H1 is not a new one. It was from Oct 2012 and the stamping was done in Feb 2013. He has already travelled for a month on this visa. His H1 is expiring in Sep 2013 and hence he needs to travel urgently and apply for renewal of H1. Given the fact he travels to the US, can he send the passport from there to NDVO? Is this any breach or an issue?

I know it is always an issue to send passport to India from a foreign country..and if you are able to send it to India...NDVO would only be sending the passport to a local Indian address...somebody then would have to fly with the passport and authorization letter to US to bring back the passport...you cannot send a passport outside the country from India.
