Can we change the hotel?

I am flying to Vancouver tomorrow and have booked fairmont for 3 days. After I booked fairmont, Canada govt released a new list with cheaper hotel options. Can I now change the hotel? Has anyone tried it?
I have been trying to call them to ask this question but no luck in getting thru the call

Last time I read, I think hotels are non refundable. But you can try if you get through the phone line again.
