Okay, since you're applying through London, the second stage is 7 months. So around 9-10 months :) (That's in total, including first stage :) )

Is there any way we can send my boyfriends application in first for his assessment as sponsor? :)

Actually no. You need to send both parts together because once he's been approved, they will automatically send it to London to process the second stage. It's really best to keep it all together :)

Alright so it'll be about 5-7 months plus 89 days to be processed! So I still have 10 months left in Canada - but i have been close to being sent back before I got my work visa (coming in to visit him) and the officer gave me limited stay and a "friendly warning" so if I'm to ap for an extension do you think that'll cause a problem - and maybe I'll get denied? Sorry about all the questions.. There are so many things I need to look into haha :)

It's always possible. You're here on a work permit right now right? I'm not sure how to go about going from working to visitor, someone else might be able to answer that question :)

But IF you do have to leave the country and try to come back, there's always that possibility that you may be denied. The only people who won't be denied are Citizens, PR's and Native Indians with Canadian Status. It's totally up to the border patrol person.

I'll worry about the extension once we have filed our application! ;) I think we will start filling out the papers real soon here. This might sound dumb - but do the want to see proof that we agreed on being in a common law relationship of some sort? We share a lease - with shared utilities, do you think opening a joint bank account would be an idea? :) Thank you so much for your help!

Any "proof" you can think of that would show that you two are in a committed relationship works! If you're able to open a joint bank account, go for it. It does help. Any communications help as well (e-mails, texts, facebook walls or if you've known him long enough, myspace haha). Photos as well help :) Good luck! :)

If your visa does run out while you are in process of the sponsorship application they will allow you to stay on implied status but you will not be able to work unless you have another work permit on its way, but that also applies for inland... so maybe not applicable to you if you choose to do outbound.

Correction, you are only on implied status if you have an application in to extend your current visa, it could buy you another couple months in processing time even if you were denied for the Visa in the end, but hopefully by that time your sponsorship would be approved :)
