Has anyone applied for visiting visa???

My fiance is on a student visa and is in Canada from past 2 years. I have applied for PR thinking it will be done in about a year, but now i don't know how much time will it take and am really fed up of this waiting.

I have no intention of staying illegally in Canada. How will i convince the Visa officer this thing???

DON'T JEOPARDIZE YOUR GOLDEN CHANCE OF GETTING CANADIAN PR, BY APPLYING FOR A SHORT STAY CANADIAN PERMIT.
RELAX AND BE PATIENT. YOU SHALL BE IN CANADA IN THIS YEAR.

Well you can but the chances are they will refuse the visit visa as the PR is already filed......there are chances of rejecting Visit visa when PR is filed as they will doubt your intentions of leaving canada...If you really want to convince the VISA officer then present a strong case that you have good financial things lying at home because of which you will go back after the completion of your visit visa.....if you visited canada and came back after the expiration of visit visa that would also have made the visit visa case strong.....my suggestion will be if you have waited for 2 years....then some more time and go in peace and for a long time...

cheers

a visit visa of Canada is only possible if you got at least $300,000 in your bank and a proporties worth a lot in your home country as one of the members said that would convince the VO that you'd indeed come back

Dear Nano,

you can perfectly apply for a Visitor Visa, even if you have a pending PR application. Of course, you will have to prove that you will be back at home, but as for any visitor ! There are no special conditions for a PR applicant (as read on one of the answers).

I was on the same case 3 months ago. I have applied for a PR on february 2011, and I have asked for a Visitor Visa on march 2011 (I have some travel plans there for this summer, in order to begin looking for a place to live and a job, before landing as a PR, probably next year…).

Just try to be honest, and to provide all proofs of your actual situation, and provide all supporting documents. Don't hide the fact that you applied for a PR. You can even provide (as I did), a screen capture of your Ecas.

I don't have 300,000 CAD on my account, I have a "normal" situation in my country, and I have been granted with a 5 years Visitor Visa, with Multiple entries.

So, don't hesitate !

Best of luck.

John

John what reason did you show in you application form.. I have applied for PR and would like to visit canda in future..
This is to write an exam with the professional registration authoritys.. My plan is to get the professional registration before I get the PR and go straight away and apply for job. would they accept this.. also could you tell me what reason did you provide during applying...
Thanks

your name sounds like you have been from EU/North Americas living as an expatriate in Morocco. so you have a different presentation/acceptance to Canadian VO's. India and Asia is different. why not give it a try, I'd talk to some consultants about how much I'd need to demonstrate that would give the VO an impression about my returning back from Canada once the Visit visa period would be over.

Thank you everyone for your feedback!!!!!!

I will wait for a month or two. If nothing happens than I will apply for a visiting visa.
The only thing could be not getting a visiting visa, Don't think it will jeopardize my chances for PR.
