can toefl serve same purpose as ielts

pls i dont have idea on how much is it to register for ielts and i wanna know if my toefl can be used for ielts?

Technically toefl should be allowed throughout north America. although, every college/university have varying admission requirements.
I would suggest you to email the admissions dept. of all the universities and college to be sure
