Hi Guys,

I am actually asking here on behalf of my friend.
She just got here last May 2012 (new immigrant), went back home in December and get married in January 2013.

Can she already sponsor her husband?

Here are some details:
- She only started working in July (5 months full time job and 1 part time)
- She has no Option C yet ( as she hasnt had experienced filing tax yet)
- She has not enough savings as she is just new and just came back
- She is still living with relatives and has no place of her own

I am unsure if she is eligible as a sponsor, so please help me find out. :)

Thanks for your feedback.

Only CIC will be able to tell you for sure if she is eligible.
There is no minimum time in Canada, or minimum income to sponsor. She has to be able to prove that she has a plan to support herself and her family, and won't go on welfare.
BUt if she has a job, and her family is willing to host her ( and her husband if needed) until they can have their own house, then she shoudl get a letter saying that, and she can show the last pay stubs as she doesn't have an option C + letter from employer, and she can try.
Good luck to her,
Sweden

She can include copies of her paystubs. Her employer letter will also state she's only worked there for 5 months. In her own forms, she will have to say she landed on X date - so the VO will see she's new in Canada and understand that part.

She can also worked on filing her taxes asap. Include a copy of her tax return (or the summary, if they do that in Canada - guess who hasn't done Canadian taxes yet!).

CIC sees many people who land as immigrants, then get married and sponsor their spouse back home right away. (Students, Foreign Workers, dependant PRs). So don't worry about it too much. She has an income so that is good!

Thanks Amikety and Sweden.. :) Ill let her know that.

She just need to insert a letter of explanation and the VO office will know why.

She is just so worried and thought I should ask the forum, coz we havent read any info about being a newcomer unable or able to sponsor. right away.

Thanks again! Happy Valentines.. :)

Might be good to also include a letter from the family if they intend on helping to support them. If she is not approved as solo sponsor, they could try again and ask the family to co-sponsor (if they are willing to take that responsibility).

Thats good too.. She should rather do all the explanation thingy than be sorry and wait longer due to lack of information right?

Thanks CaNadaNow.. :)

You are absolutely correct. Better to provide everything. every email. every phone log. make all the payments up front (including Right of Permanent Residence fee). if PR was not granting they can get the money back but the added wait time is not at all reasonable.
