Our daughter initiated the case for our immigration in 2005. The papers were asked in 2007 and were submitted in 2008. It is learnt that the case may take 3 years. For getting citizenship another 3 years will be required. This means the children shall have the least time with their parents. Giving last priority to he parents may be under the notion that they are of no use to the country. However this may not be the case in all the parents. I am a civil Engineer having a Masters Degree. My both the sons also have Masters degree in software Engg and Business Admn. Moreover when coming to Canada we shall bring sizable money which can be invested in some business. Therefore None of us is going to be burden on anybody. I wondered whether our cases can now be converted to HSMP or Business Professionals and can it be expedited.

1. You can apply as Skilled worker if you wish and if you qualify in one of the "38" occupations on the list. It won't be expedited. If you qualify under the Self employed/Investor/Entrepreneur class, depending on your country of residence you are looking at about 3-5 years in processing time. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/menu-perm.asp
2. You might as well stick with your family class application.
