I am 50 years old. I am currently a visitor in BC. I have read an article that it is possible for a visitor to temporarily work in Canada with the help of a temporary work permit. The employer has to apply for an LMIA and then they can hire.
I was wondering if this temporary work can help me become eligible to apply for PR.

It may help but will likely be quite difficult to qualify to immigrate given your age. Many of Canada's immigration programs are points-based - and you'll lose significant points due to your age. Also, a job is not the only criteria that is considered for immigration. Factors like level of education, years and type of experience, funds to settle yourself in Canada and others are also considered.

Yes - the employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can then apply for a closed work permit. Ideally the job should be skill level A, B or 0 (i.e. skilled job).
