Can someone please explain the steps of spousal sponsorship?

Trying to determine whether I am ip2 or 1.

April 11th/2019 -AOR received

May 7th Biometrics request

May 8th sponsor approval

May 8th medical requested

May 17th medical passed

May 20th application sent to Vienna (vo office)

My status online state as such

Some people believe that there are discrete stages that an application goes through, and that various updates to the online status in the ECAS or MyCIC website indicates progress and can be an insight into where your application is.

You can sometimes find some information from the status. And you can sometimes track what's happened on your application based on the messages you receive.

However, take any one telling you "You are at NNN stage, expect MMM stage next week" or "All that is left for you is OOO stage!" with some massive grains of salt. No two applications are processed the same way, and various "stages" can be progressed through quickly or not quickly at all. Some "stages," like background checks, can go on forever.

It's tempting to try to predict where exactly your application is and what will happen next but it's really, honestly, not always possible to do so.

My suggestion? Estimate that your application will take 12 months. If it goes faster, revel in efficiency and joy!
