Fellow forum members,

I applied for my wife on Jan 27 to CPC Mississauga. We were in a 2 year relationship and have tons of relationship evidence, such as phone bills, emails, skype chat logs, watsapp etc.I am going back to canada in 2 days as I was in India since mid december 2013.We got married end of dec and sent everything complete from India to CPC Mississauga.

My question is, should I have waited to get back to canada to file the application or is it ok to have sent the application from india? I have a full time permanent job in canada and been a PR since April 2013.

Any replies will be much appreciated
Thanks

So long as it arrives safely at it's destination then yes it's ok. I haven't had much success with international mail so personally I would have carried the package to Canada first and mailed it from there. My experience however doesn't involve India, nor does it involve delivery into Canada (it's the other way), so you might be okay.

I sent it FedEx and tracking # shows delivered with proof of delivery to the courier address of CPC Mississauga they have on CIC website so I think I should be ok.

It is possible that they might detect the sending address is not inside Canada and either refuse the application outright, or they may ask you to prove that you are in Canada before processing. Strictly speaking, at the time you submitted the application you were ineligible as a sponsor because you are a PR and not a Canadian citizen.

I would also add that if you were not accurate in filling the forms out, with regard to your location at the time of signing, they might also accuse you of misrepresentation. So, if you sent them saying that you were inside Canada, and you weren't... watch out.

With your employment history AND the "Letter of Employment" that is one of the requirements, I doubt very much your application will be refused. Let's see how it goes.

I know what you a saying but I called CIC to confirm what you said and they told me I will be fine since I am back in canada after my vacation which I took for the sole reason to get married in my home country. An applicant can send the application even from overseas while holidaying.
They guy said you are not "living "abroad and since you are back which also reflects through my airline ticket copy which I sent with the application, I should be getting my AOR soon.

It went well. Got the SA last month and file transferred to VO.
Will keep you posted.
