Hi,

Need help here. Can anyone help provide answer to my question please? I landed months ago and have just started working. Please I'd like to know if I can sponsor my non accompanying immediately.

Thank you

Yes, you can. There is no specific income requirement to sponsor your dependent child. However, if you are divorced, you need either the approval of the other parent or you need to prove that you have full custody.

It depends on how did you get your status.

I got my PR through mpnp. Father is Canadian citizen now ready to sign consent to bring him in. Was worried about tax documentation since I had just started working and have not done.any tax filing.

Am I correct to guess you mean the tax doc does not affect my eligibility to sponsor him? Please explain further. Really appreciate your help.

I think canuck_in_uk means it doesn't matter how you got your status.
You can still sponsor him.

You don't have to worry about that. Just say you are just landed and haven't filed taxes in Canada. Send copies of your last 3 pay slips instead. However, there is really no specific financial requirement to sponsor dependent children.

So he is not a born citizen through his father or his father gained citizenship after he was born?

Why did you not have him as accompanying on your application?

Father for citizenship recently. Both of us are single just had the child by accident. Issue of consent from father was not resolved then so he didn't make it. Now it's been resolved so I want to file for him asap but tax doc required brought all the confusion.

Hi Leon,
just want to ask if i need to pay for right for permanent fee for my son which is my dependent child, I'm submitting his docs next week
for sponsorship and my wife can't find her notice of assessment from last year can she just print it out from CRA website? she had
online account from it which she can view her last assessment from last year. thanks

Dependent children don't have to pay the right of PR fee.

If your wife can't find the notice of assessment, she should try printing it out from the website.
