I am currently in the process of filling the application forms for my TWP. I called up the embassy call center and informed that my wife needs to have SOWP. The problem is one of the requirement for SOWP is to have a police clearance (NBI clearance here in the Philippines) and is currently at bedrest.

I'm also not planning to let my wife work in Canada.

I was thinking just to get her a TRV so that I don't need to get the police clearance (NBI clearance here in the Philippines). I have all the requirements except to this clearance.

Anybody on forum who has knowledge and experience regarding SOWP and TRV?

Thanks!

You can certainly try for a TRV, but keep in mind your wife has to show strong ties to her home country. Basically, what will make her go back after she visits you? Do you have young children that need her? Does she have a steady job? Does she have a letter from her employer? Assets? These are a few things she needs to address to be able to satisfy the officer.

Our daughter will also come. But she can satisfy the rest of the requirements.

Is it better to get SOWP (less to prove the ties to her home country?) than TRV?

Thanks again!

You could apply for a TRV. But - echoing SenoritaBella's remarks, it has to satisfy CIC - i.e. strong ties to the PH. IMHO, you may have lesser chances of getting a favorable result if applying for a TRV than an SOWP.

Looking at it from the three of you (no other children aside from the daughter?) - you have arranged employment and applying for a TRV, you plan to have your wife and daughter accompanying you - the whole family. So if you apply for a TRV for your wife - there should be very strong ties to the PH. If you have none left in the PH of your immediate family or, she has a job and a very good position, paying above average salaries, and she does not have any big assets (you are liquid financially)....IMHO - she may not have any 'strong ties to the home country'.
