Can my wife come back to Canada with an OPW approval letter?

Hello everyone,

My wife has just received an approval letter for her Open Work Permit in her CIC account. Although she has been living with me till November in Canada (I started working under a Post Graduation Work Permit in October, and she had been under a Visitor Visa), she flew back to Spain two months ago.

She is about to fly to Canada again, so I was wondering if she will be able to show her approval letter at the border (which includes UCI number, type of permit, expiration date and my wife's) or we must wait the potential six weeks stated in the approval letter to receive the real Work Permit at my Canadian address and send it by mail to Spain.

Is there any other option?

Hi,

Depending on which part of Canada you are located the work permit should arrive within 7-10 business days by Canada Post. Once you receive the work permit send it to your wife by mail.

So she will need the work permit physically at the border... I live in Calgary now, so I should have it here quite soon.
