Hello everyone,
I am sponsoring my husband and we got a passport request today. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully my husband will be in Vancouver by the end of this month. We are so happy, still can not believe!!!!
I need some clarifications, kindly advice what is the best way to follow:
1. I know that from March 15, 2016 everybody needs to get ETA in order to come to Canada.
As of March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada are expected to have an an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid Canadian visa.
I think my husband belongs to FN who has valid Canadian visa, right? Kindly advise if he needs ETA.
2. There is no direct flight from Tel-Aviv to Vancouver. The shortest option is coming through USA or Toronto. So, his first stop in Canada will be in Toronto, not Vancouver. We did our search and found that layover time in Toronto for some flights is 1 hr 45 minutes. Should he book a flight with layover time of 3 and more hours in Toronto to let him to get all immigration papers done? Should I meet him in Toronto? Or it will be better to come through USA and do everything here, in Vancouver?
3. He might need to come back to Israel for a month due to family circumstances. We are not certain yet, hopefully not. But in case if he needs to come back to Israel, is he allowed to leave Canada? If yes, should he wait until he will gets his PR card before he will go back to Israel?
Thank you, your assistance is greatly appreciated
