Hello

My mother-in-law is currently in Canada on a 3 month tourist visa. We've just applied for her (and her husband's) Permanent Resident status and heard it takes years to get it approved.

My question is, do we have to extend her tourist visa during this application period (which could take years), or because we've applied for her Permanent Residence Status (and she's in Canada already), we don't require it?

Please point me in the right direction.

You need to apply for the extension of her visit but I doubt that she'll be allowed to extend the entire time her PR is being processed.
