hi,

I am an international student , came to canada on 12th sep,2013. and my husband applied for TRV on 27th sep,2013 and got rejected. So now he wants to apply Open work permit (within 10 days of rejection) . please suggest me can he do it immediately? And what the documents required for Open work permit?. Please guide me

OWP is reserved for those who are sponsored inside Canada. So your husband cannot apply for OWP. He would have to apply to enter Canada through other means, such as work permit through LMO or study permit. Since you are not PR or Canadian you cannot sponsor your husband to come join you. You can also apply for PR resident yourself and list your husband with the application.

There is an OWP option for those whose spouses are students/workers in Canada. I would suggest posting in the International Students section of the forum, as the people in this section are PRs and citizens sponsoring their spouses. The process and requirements are completely different.
