Hello,

I am wondering if someone could help me. Can my British spouse, who is applying for residency from outside of Canada because he wants to work in the UK until he has permission to work in Canada, come and visit Canada during the time his sponsorship/residency is being processed? If he is the holder of a British passport and a return ticket to the UK, is this possible?

I ask this because otherwise it will mean that we won't see each other for ages because I don't have a whole lot of vacation time...he owns his own business and is much more flexible!

Yes, he can. He needs an eTA but can enter Canada as a visitor for up to 6 months. Return ticket is definitely important.

I'm a Netherlands citizen and have been to Canada a number of times now to visit my husband. I've limited the trips to a few weeks at a time and there have never really been any serious questions or concerns by border guards.
