Hi, i'm currently in Canada on my first year working holiday visa. I have been with my boyfriend for 4 years and he is a Canadian citizen, we were looking into the spouse sponsorship and had hired an immigration lawyer to help us out with it, however i just recently found out that i am pregnant and i wanted to know whether or not that would affect the final decision of the visa?
Is there any other options we could possibly do ? Will i have to leave Canada?

would really appreciate any help we could get :)

You first have to decide if you are getting married or have enough proof for common law. A baby on the way definitely makes your case stronger but its still doesn't guarantee that it will be a slam dunk towards PR status. As they all say: each case is unique! I'm not sure what will happen to you once your visas get expired.

Hi

As said above, you need to either be married or common-law (lived together continuously for a year) to be sponsored. I suggest you reconsider the use of an immigration lawyer. It really is quite straightforward app, with guides and checklists. And the members of this forum can answer pretty much any questions you have.

The pregnancy will not effect the outcome of the app. However, if you choose not to undergo the chest X-ray while pregnant, your app will probably be delayed, as the medical cannot be completed until after you've given birth.

Like mentioned, your boyfriend can definitely sponsor you, as long as you qualify for common law or decide to get married. You definitely DONT need to pay an immigration lawyer. Save your money! They can't do much for you and you have to provide all the information and reform are doing the work anyway! It is a waste of money. Although the application can seem overwhelming at first, once you read the guides and start filling out the forms, you will see that it isn't that complicated. Any questions you hav can be referred to this message board.

I have seen many cases in which the lawyers are not careful enough with the applications,
It better if you do it yourself....
Its a lot of work and nobody can do it better that the persons that are applying,
that is the sad experience that I have seen here in the forum
You need to dedicate yourself to present a good application,
and nobody will do better than the applicants....

I also suggest to reconsider the fact of having a lawyer... Not needed at this moment....

Lawyers can be bad for 2 reasons: Costs lots of $, and they sometimes will forget a document or piece of evidence, which can cause you to get delayed, an interview or even a refusal.
