Hi everyone,

I applied to OINP and got nominated. Before I had sent my physical documents to OINP, I scanned all of them in hopes that I could use them again for federal application. Notarised translation is crazy expensive here so I would opt for not re-doing it if at all possible. Will it be okay if I use those scanned notarised copies, the originals of which I no longer have?

Thank you.

You MUST submit both the original AND the translated & notarized copies of documents to CIC.

For instance, if your degree certificate is not in English or French, you must submit both the original AND the translated (&notarized) versions of it.

I think I wasn't clear enough. Original documents are not the issue. I want to use the scanned versions of the notarized copies I used for OINP. When I said I didn't have the originals, I meant the original notarized paper copies, in other words, physical (as opposed to electronic) copies which are now with OINP.

My worry is what if CIC asks for the paper copies of these scanned notarized translations, then I won't be able to fulfill that request because I sent them to OINP for provincial nomination program. So in order not to risk it, should I re-notarize the translations with a more recent date and everything. This way, I will have the actual paper copies of these notarized translations, so if and when CIC asks for them, I will be able to submit without any complications. The only downside is notarization is very expensive here. That is my dilemma.

I hope it is more clear now.

Yes, you can go ahead. CIC does not require hard copies. You fill the forms in MyCIC and upload scanned copies of documents

Then its fine! If you have the scanned copies of both the original and notarized version, you are good to go!

Just a suggestion, you need not have sent the notarized originals to OINP. They are fine with a copy of the notorized documents, and you could have utilized those notorized again for CIC (saving the cost). Once notorized, always notorized.
